Blains is a restaurant by day and a dance club by night. In fact, it’s Gatlinburg’s ONLY dance club (see Hogs and Honies below). During the day and early evening Blains is a decent family restaurant and bar. The main dining area is on the second floor with some outside seating on the large wrap around balcony. The bar is nice with its own balcony that overlooks the crowds down on the main street of Gatlinburg. There is also a second bar on the third floor also with a large wrap around balcony. However, they only open that upper bar if the place gets crowded and that’s rare. Blain’s has nice and responsive bartenders with one exception so, that’s not too bad.

Hogs and Honies is a real bar. It looks like a bar. It smells like a bar and it doesn’t pretend to be anything but a bar. You can eat here, but I wouldn’t. You can drink here and after a few rounds you are welcome to dance on the bar along with the servers (if it’s a slow night there wont be any dancing). Hogs and Honies has some TVs, they have some games, and they have a pool table, but lets face it if you’re here, you are here to drink beer, ogle at the tourist, and maybe, just maybe dance on the bar. Hogs and Honies (like Blains) has a balcony that over looks the goings on on the main street through Gatlinburg. It’s a great place to have a cold one and watch the tourist from one floor up. The wait staff at Hogs and Honies are nice and responsive for the most part. I have seen some of their bartenders with an attitude and not very friendly. Also, be warned, you may leave this place with lung cancer so if you don’t smoke this may not be the place for you. Neither Lora nor myself smoke and, even though we enjoy the occasional bar scene, this place can be more than we can take.

KT’s Bar & Grill (Pigeon Forge, TN)
KTs
KT’s Bar & Grill is located in Tanger Outlet in Pigeon Forge, TN. KT’s is a family restaurant & bar located right in the middle of the huge Tanger Outlet mall. The restaurant fills up fast during lunch so be ready to wait in line. The walkup bar also fills up fast mostly with men drinking while their other half is out shopping. I’ve seen guys put down five beers in the time it takes me to drink one. One guy told me he could feel his wallet getting lighter by the minute. He’s also the guy who was drinking 5 to 1 compared to me. I enjoy sitting at the bar at KT’s meeting people from all over the country. In fact, I’ve never sat in the dining area in KT’s, but the place does have a nice ambiance. The food is good, not great, but good and the wait staff are friendly and responsive. Lora and I usually start here before a day of shopping.

Smoky Mountain Brewery (Gatlinburg, TN)
TheBrewery
The Brewery is hands down Lora and my favorite place in Gatlinburg. The Brewery is another family style restaurant and bar with a delicious pizza and their own micro brewery. They have the best beer in town. You’ll get no Bud or Coors here. They only sell their own beer and it’s fantastic. They have a sampler so that you can try all their beers to decide which one you like best. I’ve never had anything to eat here except for their pizza, but judging by the crowds I’d say that all their food is good. The place has good ambiance and great wait staff. We’ve never had a bad experience at the Brewery. On Mondays and Tuesdays they have trivia night and Fridays and Saturdays they have live entertainment after 9:30pm. The place gets packed so be patient. Lora and I have always found a place to sit in the bar area. If Gatlinburg is slow and empty, then go to the Brewery ... that’s where everyone will be.
